Blooming Iris

Last fall my mother decided to tear out all of her iris bulbs….as in she no longer wanted any.  These bulbs are originally from my grandmother, so I couldn’t let them all get trashed.

Special Christmas Gift

Glen and I, after much deliberation, decided to give Taffy the ultimate Christmas gift.  We gave Taffy the gift of adoption.  So naturally I had to dress her up for the occasion.

Queen Anne’s Lace

This beautiful “weed” is Queen Anne’s Lace and is also known as wild carrot.  Like a carrot, when the plant is young, the root can be eaten.  However, care should be taken because it bears a strong resemblance to poison hemlock, which is also in the carrot family and is deadly when eaten.

I’ll admit, when I first think of elderberries I think of the song by Elton John.  However, my second thought is wondering what elderberry wine tastes like.  Have you ever drank elderberry wine?

A Note From Abroad

“Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sailaway from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.” ~ Mark Twain
