Hanging out and being cool

I learned a few things yesterday while I was cooking dinner. The first thing I learned wasn’t really a lesson at all since I already possessed the knowledge. I was using a mandolin to slice up some zucchini.
A mandolin is a very useful kitchen tool…..and I “re-learned” that it is deadly sharp, (as in instrument of torture sharp). So I am sure by now you realize that I must have cut myself. Yep.
The second thing I learned is that I have a relatively low tolerance for great gobs of blood loss. I always thought I handled myself very well when injured. Yesterday, when I couldn’t get the bleeding to stop, let alone slow down, I started to worry. The worry turned in to having a hot flash with copious sweating….but, thankfully I did not pass out. I did sit down with a wet paper towel and kept applying pressure to my finger.
Ouch!!
As you can see, it did a number on my little pinky finger.
I don’t know how so much can happen in an 8 hour time frame….but it does. Work last night was absolutely horrible. It had me day dreaming of girls day out and the fantastic pomegranate lemon drop martini that I had.
Eva: Glen, Why does a chicken coop have two doors?….. Because if had four doors it would be a chicken sedan!
Lila: I don’t get it….
Eva: I spy with my little eye…
Eva: Must grasp for closer inspection
Eva: What is it???
Eva: Wait! Now it is on me…..
Eva: Get it off!!!
(For the record….whatever she thought she saw and tried to get off of her foot, was completely invisible.)
Lila: Eva, would you move my cage cover a little to the right?
Lila: No….I said move it to the right.
Eva: My right or your right?
Lila: Forget it….I’ll just move.
Eva: No, no….Let me try from a different angle.
Eva: How’s that suit you?
Lila: You’re fired.
Tuesday Petey got his teeth cleaned. They must have given him a heaping dose of anesthetic because he was so pathetic it just broke my heart.
Yesterday was one of those rare days in which my girlfriends and I had the same day off together. We had a wonderful couple of hours down on the plaza. We ate at Bo Ling’s. It was wonderful.
This is the best egg drop soup I have ever had.
Being the complete pig that I am…I forgot to take a picture of my entree before I made a mess out of it by eating it. Vickie on the other hand barely ate any of her food….so here is a picture of her cashew chicken.
And it wouldn’t be a girls day out without a nice adult beverage. Ila and I had the pomegranate lemon drop martini….Vickie had to be different and had a pomegranate martini. This is Vickie and I, (picture #4….yes it took that many to get a decent picture), with our respective beverages.
Our waiters name was Vernon, and he was a great guy……meaning he put up with our shenanigans.
Ila, get a little alcohol in her and she is such a flirt!
We had a wonderful day! Just wish we had more than our usual 2 per year.
